Americos Thermochromic Microcapsule
Introduction :
Dye is a substrate showing its colour by absorption & reflection of
light; it is affected greatly by circumstances. Thermochromic dyes have a
characteristic whereby the colour changes according to temperature. However,
because the dye (coloring matter) is very sensitive to circumstances, some
shield (protection) is needed. In our Chameleon range the shield is a
microcapsule. The Thermochromic microcapsule is a thermochromic colorant
especially protected by the microcapsule wall.
"A" loses its colour by absorption of heat, if the heat is
intercepted; the coloring matter resumes its original chemical structure,
and shows its own colour again.
Thermochromic microcapsules are available in various colours, and they are
also available with different temperature
Sensitivities that affect their colour. Colours available are: Black, Blue,
Violet, Rose red, Red and Orange.
These products are available in a powder form for plastic extrusion and
Aqueous Slurry for Textile application such as dyeing and printing.
Temperature change ranges are 7°C, 15°C, 25°C, and 31°C

not chock your screen and do not contain any solvents. They may be printed
on 100% cotton synthetic/cotton blends
Americos Photochromic colors are plastisol based ready to use off-white
liquid. When exposed to UV radiation, colour appears. These inks are
available in various hues.
Photochromic colour can be applied on garment by three methods:
- Spray
- Brush
- Screen Printing
In all above methods, Photochromic colour is directly applied on
garment and cured at 150
oC for 30 - 90 seconds.
Special Care Instruction:
Americos Photochromic colors should be printed on white or light colors.
The following suggestions should be kept in mind when running the
thermo-chromic colour.
- Recommended screen mesh: 130 - 200 mesh count with 150 preferred.
- Deposit thickness: 1 - 3 mils
- Curing: 155°-160ºC for 30 - 90 seconds (colour should not
be over-cured
Note: Residual color may be a
problem with colorless to color inks. This can be controlled by putting down
a thinner film, though this may affect color intensity as well. Residual
color can also become a problem if too much heat is used in drying the inks.

Americos Glow in Dark Colorants is a blended mineral compound that responds
quickly to excitation by daylight, incandescent, fluorescent or ultraviolet
light. This pigment emits a bright phosphorescence shade. It exhibits high
initial brightness and long afterglow, up to 2 hours. The afterglow effect
is dependent on pigment concentration, surface area and amount of radiant
energy absorbed.
The uses of Americos Glow in Dark Colorants are:
- On garment to create novel products and promotional items like
T-shirts, which are used in disco parties
- On fabric/garment to print company logo / brand name to prevent

sunlight, phosphorescent pigments can exhibit darkening.
- In the presence of metal ions, phosphorescent
pigments can lose their ability to glow.
- The addition of colorless extenders or
colored pigments will reduce the intensity of the phosphorescence
(afterglow effect)
- Testing is recommended in the intended

TRI-FUNCTIONAL
Amerisoft Trifunctional Colors (Cloudy Effect on
Garment)
Introduction :
Americos Trifunctional Colors are specially designed for garment industry
to get cloudy effect on garment. This effect resembles the tie & dye
effect but the approach is totally different. In this technology, garments
are first dyed with tri-functional colors in garment dyeing m/c. Then the
dyed garments are tied with thread at different parts according to the
design to be formed on garment. Then it is treated with Americos Deni XL
solution (discharger) and subsequently with Americos Deni OX (neutralizer).
Thus, this method opens unlimited doors for developing creative designs on
garments. Using this technology, garment processors can achieve cloudy
effect of more than two colors from one trifunctional color. It saves labor,
water and energy involved in traditional process of tie & dye.
The whole process is divided in to four steps:
- Dyeing of garment with Americos Trifunctional Colors
- Tying the garment at different parts according to the design
requirements
- Discharging of dyed garments with Americos Deni XL
- Neutralization of garment with Americos Deni OX

Dyeing of Garment with Americos
Trifunctional Colors :
First, dyeing of garment is carried out with Americos Trifunctional color
in wash wheel.
Take required amount of Americos Trifunctional Color (X g) and prepare the
dye bath by dissolving the color in water. Introduce the garments in the dye
bath and run the machine for 5 min. Then add 50 g/l of Glauber's salt and
raise the temperature to 70 to 75°C while continuing the dyeing for 15
min. Then add 20 g/l of soda ash and continue the dyeing for another 30 min.
One cold wash - Soaping (with neutral detergent to remove unfix colors) -
One hot wash - drying of garments.
Please note that generally 2 - 4% color (owf) gives good effect.
2. Tie the garment at different parts :
- After drying of the dyed garments, the garments should be tightly
tied with treads at different location as per the required design/effect
to be produced.
3. Discharging of Americos Trifunctional Colors with Americos Deni
XL
- This is the critical and most important process. Put the garment in
Americos Deni XL solution (50% w/w) or potassium permanganate (130 g/l)
for few seconds (5 - 10 seconds) and take out garment from Americos Deni
XL bath very fast and swiftly.
4. Neutralization of garment with Americos Deni OX
- Dip the garments, from the above process (after discharging), in
Americos Deni OX solution (15 g/l) and keep the garments immersed for 5
- 10 min. Then wash the garments with water.
